It is amazing that in these days of great knowledge and revelations, people still hold on to these kinds of erroneous opinions about what is required to succeed in marriage.
Having a notion as this about a union like marriage could be said to be baseless and superfluously weak when it comes to succeeding in marriage.
However, it is unbelievably true that even some supposed believers and leaders (in Christ) also buy into this kind of belief about the institution of marriage as God intended. Following this, they seem to marginalize biblical keys to succeeding in marriage.
Recently, a sister ( a counsellee) told me of how her own Pastor’s wife intruded on her relationship with a brother in the same church on the ground of tribal differences. I was weakened and highly disappointed by the action of a respectable person like a Pastor’s wife. What nonsense! What a display of ignorance! At least when you are not vast on a matter, the wise thing to do is to find out or seek counsel from those graced in that field.
Unfortunately, this faulty and misleading notion about the factors that account for success in marriage is still being sold to some Christian singles all around today even in the church.
For both believers in Christ and unbelievers alike, succeeding in marriage has nothing to do with tribe, race, place of origin, or nationality.
Rather success in marriage primarily depends on one’s understanding of marriage as God intended as written down in the Bible; besides, learning the necessary skills for operating a marital relationship. All these play a more significant role in this regard than some make-belief factors like age difference, tribe, state of origin, or nationality.

It’s important to note that- marriage is not ‘China made’, it is not ‘America Specs’, neither is it ‘British or African idea’.
Marriage originated from God, and it will always take His counsel and divine capabilities to succeed in it.
Specifically, as a Christian single- THE ONLY GROUP OF PEOPLE YOU ARE NOT PERMITTED to marry are those who differ in faith and beliefs (based on Christ teachings).
Hence 2 Corinth. 6:14 says: “ “Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers…”
Marrying an unbeliever or an uncommitted believer when you are a true believer will bring you under avoidable marital yokes and burdens. No matter how religious the person is, that which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. The flesh (of an unbelieving soul) can never obey God’s submissions and commands on marriage; for they are spiritually discerned.
The scriptures further say in Gal. 3:26-28-
“For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. THERE IS NEITHER JEW NOR GREEK, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; FOR YOU ARE ALL ONE IN CHRIST JESUS.”(Regardless of tribe and nationality).

The above scripture made it unambiguously clear that, once you’re genuinely saved through faith in Christ, you can marry anyone like you (in Christ) without recourse to tribe, race, language state of origin or nationality.
Just ensure your prospect understands the basics of what marriage as God intended is all about and ensure he or she is willing to live by them in marriage. Also, marry someone who is committed to the kingdom lifestyle and principles.
And settle for a person who understands and agrees with God’s purpose for marriage, besides successful marriage tips.
As much as possible, ensure you guard against parents, relations, friends, and untrained marriage counselors, causing you to err in choosing a life partner by putting forward conditions that do not guarantee marriage success in any acceptable way.
The Lord will see you through with regards to making the right choice of a life partner and you will succeed in marriage by God’s grace and by the knowledge you have acquired here about thriving in marriage and relationships.
