Success and bliss in marriage largely depend on whether you are thoughtful enough to marry someone with whom you are compatible or not. Incidentally, there are many lies that people mistake for compatibility these days which have led the majority of young people into regrettable marital relationships, truncating their marital dreams and destinies. The truth is, if you prioritise the issue of compatibility and choose the right life partner, believe me, you are already a potential ‘A’ student in the school of marital success and bliss.
Meaningful compatibility answers to understanding your purpose in life. In other words, you must know where you are going in life so that you can know who to take along with you (Amos 3:3). Interestingly, the truth about compatibility is so simple yet many are missing it and suffering for nothing. Please understand that you cannot choose your own compatibility parameters; they are already established and well-spelt out for us by God and the principles of marital success. Therefore, you either follow them or the consequences follow you.
Sexual Compatibility Is A Farce. It Is Misleading. Be Warned!
No one planning to enter into marriage can optimise a marital relationship with someone they are not compatible with. That is, you cannot bring out the best in them, nor can they be at their very best if you are not compatible. Temperaments can strengthen compatibility but they are not a compatibility parameter.
Compatibility majorly focuses on our characters, beliefs, values, and exposure to the right knowledge about marriage as God intends. It’s not about hips, lips, buttocks, breast size, dress sense, educational qualifications, workplace, steez or sexual expectations.
Compromise is a key factor when it comes to compatibility in marriage. It’s a double-edged sword. In other words, there are things you can compromise regarding compatibility and still enjoy lasting bliss and success in your marriage, such as the desired height, looks, dress sense, versatility, property ownership, educational qualifications, financial status, and tribe of your spouse-to-be.
On the other hand, there are compatibility parameters you MUST never compromise if you want to optimise your marriage. In fact, you have no power over such matters as far as your prospect is concerned. They have the responsibility to ensure all these by themselves. At the top of the list of non-compromisable issues are character, beliefs, values, adherence to God’s word concerning life and marriage, and the discovery of purpose.
