How To Provoke Marital Blessings.

I am glad that the Spirit laid this article on my heart to write for a number of couples all over the globe at a time like this. It’s a time that many matrimonial homes and wedlocks are under the oppression and suppression of evil forces and persons. These become easy to inflict on couples and families where the blessing of God does not rest.
For the blessings of God to come upon anything or any venture, certain conditions must be satisfied. God’s blessings do not become a reality just by wishing or praying, it comes with some crucial responsibilities. I have highlighted some of them here. May your home and marriage be blessed.
1. First thing first, as a man ensure you pay your wife’s dowry fully according to their family traditions and biblical injunction, before you ever start living together. Never cohabit with a woman whose dowry you have not paid. If you do, you have not married her but stolen her. Woman, if you park into the house of a man who has not paid your dowry, you may find yourself living life in the reverse. Besides, you would have allowed a man to trample on, perhaps, your greatest honour as a wife and a mother.
2. Don’t uncover your partner’s nakedness for any reason on earth. Only married people should access and enjoy sex by God’s design for marriage and this has not been reviewed yet. Be warned! Obedience to this sanctity of marriage provokes divine blessings on a union. That is: say no to sex before marriage and resist every temptation or persuasion to indulge in it. God frowns at it. God does not and will not bless anything you do that makes Him frown. Who does?
3. Endeavour to secure your parents’ blessings on your union before you start out together. It is like oil on your marriage, don’t wink at it for any reason. It is their honour, never rob them of it regardless of the possibilities of some differences along with marriage decisions. Your parents’ blessing is favour upon your marriage and family life that prevents some unnecessary labour in your lives as a couple. My wife and I had to wait for about three years to get my own parent’s blessings by the time we eventually got married. It was good we did wait.
4. Don’t base your choice of partner on an assumption, recommendation or emotions. Ensure you are at the centre of God’s will when making a choice of whom to have this lifelong relationship with. It is germane to your progress as a couple and enjoying God’s presence in your union. Remember God does not pay for what He did not order. For God to be with you in a venture like marriage, He must have been your guide. Don’t marry anyone out of assumptions or just because you have mere feelings for them. Often than not, feelings are only skin deep, real love that will bring you into a blessed (happy union) is always heart-deep.

5. Avoid spousal abuse as much as you should, not as much as you can. Spousal abuse and disrespect for your spouse is a strong deterrent to conjugal blessings and bliss. Anything you abuse cannot bless you. A union where abuse subsists and couples take each other for granted never allow favour to flow. Intentionally honour your spouse and do things that show you love and respect him or her. Treat in-laws with respect too and show care over their concerns that come to your knowledge.

6. Don’t get involved in extramarital affairs and its relatives. A house divided against itself through sexual immorality and escapades can not be blessed of God. Sexual immorality increases the presence of darkness in your marriage and home, so flee from it. Be careful not to get involved with the opposite sex in a manner that is suggestive of immoral tendencies. It is better to avoid extramarital affair dispositions than to try to cure it.

7. Keep working on growing your togetherness as a couple. Consciously create time to be together in the bedroom, in the car or on a vacation. Spend an hour or two and even more to discuss issues and talk together. Eat together in the bedroom or dining, it doesn’t have to be in the same plate, but it’s fine if it’s one plate, anyway. You may schedule a time to eat out in the month or year. Ensure you agree on virtually all issues and do things with a unity of purpose. Don’t allow your sexual togetherness to become stale. That is, avoid sexual scarcity. Sex is a supernatural way God built into marriage to strengthen the intimacy of a couple, take advantage of it. Lastly, be wary of third party intrusions and suggestions.
“Marry a destiny facilitator not just a benefactor.”
8. Don’t marry anyone for personal and selfish gain, instead marry a partner that fits into your destiny mould even if they are not having some physical, intellectual or material features that you expect them to have at the moment. Marriage is all about joining yourself to someone going in the same destiny direction with you, material benefits are ephemeral but destiny issues are permanent. Marry a destiny facilitator not just a benefactor. If you marry a benefactor who is not a destiny partner, your life and marriage many suffer an untold loss.
9. Make it an utmost goal to make your wife happy and of course your children. No man makes his wife happy that does not receive the dew of heaven on his marriage and life. Once your wife is happy because you cherish and honour her and her heart blesses you, your prayers will be answered as seen in 1 Pet. 3:7. What happens invariably is that the joy of answered prayers begins to make the lines fall in pleasant places for you. This is so true about marriages where the man think the world of his wife, appreciates her and seeks her welfare above all else. Men who make their wives pitiable and cause their hearts to grieve, hardly have a fulfilling and progressive marriage-cum-life.
10. Cultivate the presence of God in your marriage and home. Psalm 16:11- “… In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Where God is, His blessings will rest. Don’t take your spirituality or spiritual devotions with levity. When it comes to seeking God, as a couple, ensure you are on the same page, including your children. Make praying and studying the word a family and individual lifestyle. Always encourage actions and thoughts that are underlined by the fear of God. Seek His interest and put His kingdom first in all you do and watch how blessed a family you will be.
I guarantee you by the Spirit of God and His counsel, if you do these things, your marriage will abound in the blessings of God. His hand will certainly rest on your union and family in a way that demons will not be able to do anything about it.
