One of the Greatest Scriptures for Building Successful Relationships and Marriage

By Seyi Igunsabi.

One of the greatest scriptures for building successful relationships and marriage is Ephesians 5:28

“So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.” (Ephesians 5:28 KJV).

“And that is how husbands ought to love their wives. They’re really doing themselves a favour—since they’re already “one” in marriage.” Ephesians 5:28 | MSG

The last clause in this verse of the Bible, as stated above in the Message Translation, in my opinion, makes it one of the greatest scriptures for nurturing successful, blissful, and progressive relationships as God’s children.

Let’s analyze it:

A man who loves his wife loves himself, which also means …

A man who hates wife, hates himself.

The one who insults his wife insults himself.

A man who starves his wife of care, attention, and affection has only succeeded in robbing himself of the same.

A man who gossips his wife is selling himself out so sheepishly.

The man who cheats on his wife cheats himself.

A man who dishonours his wife in public and before his relatives is only allowing his own honour to leak away.

Any man who beats his wife is simply beating himself. That is obvious insanity.

A man who hides his finance and income from his wife is hiding the same from himself. And can this be adjudged normal?

The man who broadcasts his wife (inadequacies) is reporting himself.

A man who disrespects his wife’s relations is not a man of high esteem himself.

A man who grieves wife grieves himself. You cannot be hurting your wife and not have wounds to nurse yourself.

A man who makes the home and marriage uncomfortable for his wife is definitely uncomfortable himself.

But a man who cares for his wife cares for himself.

A man who ensures the peace of his wife has rest to show for it as well.

A man who makes his wife happy, happy is he himself.

Any man who cherishes his wife cherishes his life.

A man who has time for his wife saves his own time.

The man who honours his wife is the man of honour himself.

A man who develops his wife develops himself.

A man who supports his wife supports his life.

Any man who trusts his wife trusts himself.

There is no way a wise and God-fearing man will internalize all these things about his wife and practice them and not have a heaven on earth marriage. Of course, trusting that his wife, a wise woman will reciprocate these gestures by God’s grace.

Thank you.
