
It’s so sad that some individuals have made marriage become a lasting nightmare and a pack of regrets for their spouses because of the way they relate to them. I counsel every single and married person reading this to take caution against treating their spouses in a manner that makes them feel stupid. Marriage, as God intended, was not so from the beginning.
Marriage is a union that should be cherished and nurtured under an atmosphere of love, respect, and mutual understanding. In this post, I have listed some of the attitudes and actions that make people’s spouses feel stupid. Every wise partner would steer clear from this anti-marriage attitudes.
1. Talking down to their spouse or using insulting words whenever they are upset by their partner’s attitude or tension at home.
2. Verbally disrespecting your spouse in the presence of children, relatives, or in public.
3. Being secretive with a partner who willingly shares everything from their side because of shared partnership.
4. Taking sides partially with their parents and siblings against their own spouse.
5. Making significant and defining decisions about themselves and the family at large without consulting or reasoning with their spouse.
6. Admiring someone of the opposite sex or spending time with them while their own spouse craves attention and affection back at home. This happens with the spouse’s knowledge.

7. Failing to appreciate and sometimes ignoring the visible efforts that their spouse makes to keep a good home and be there for them and the children.
8. Letting their more financially capable spouse bear all the financial burdens of the house, even minor and highly demanding ones, without support—even when they could help with some expenses.
9. Giving conditions, consciously or unconsciously, to their spouse before they take up their spousal roles as expected.
10. Discussing family challenges with relatives and friends who are beneficiaries, making their judgments biased or unobjective.
11. Never wanting to show care and understanding, even in situations where they are least required, just to frustrate or irritate their spouse.

12. Taking delight in distancing themselves emotionally and sexually from their spouse as a form of punishment.
13. Taking advantage of misunderstandings to recall their spouse’s past misdeeds, doing so in a hurtful manner.
14. Displaying a domineering personality and rarely giving their spouse an opportunity to be heard in conversations.
15. Maltreating their spouse while expecting them to remain accountable, which makes their spouse feel stupid.
