A word of hope and recovery for couples who are facing storms in their matrimonial home.

Frankly speaking, some marriages are not like the dry bones Ezekiel saw in the valley; they have also become ‘very dry bones’ (marriages—Ezek. 37:1-14). Life, joy, peace, and hope have not only been thrown out of the window of the marriage; the marriage itself is as good as dead and nonexistent (very dry). Yet, painfully, people still see some couples with this kind of pathetic marital experience as individuals who are peaceful and not doing badly. Why?
Perhaps because they still go to the church together, attend family and friends’ functions in the same or different attire, putting up plastic smiles that have behind them broken hearts, tortured emotions, divorced hearts, mental separation, love at a great distance, and a home full of strife. Although the marriage is dead and very dry in many ways, the couples still show up at their workplaces and business places, doing their work or business with diligence, laid with unnoticed pain and thoughts of regret—by colleagues, business partners, and clients.

The good news is that, in spite of all these marital traumas and difficulties, God, the Originator of marriage, is still more than able to fix such dry and moribund marital affairs. All is waiting for the couple to turn to Him and submit all their disruptive weaknesses, unfiltered character, foolish deeds, selfish tendencies, and negligence to Him. Coming before Him with a willing heart that earnestly seeks a new and robust marriage, He is able to supply the grace, wisdom, new hearts (that embrace the truths about marriage as He intended), and the fruits of the Spirit that make all things in such a marriage new.
God can bring peace into marriages where there is chaos and deep-seated conflicts. Even when a marriage feels caught in a storm, God can still bring peace. Take that stormy marriage to the Lord in prayer, and let Him be your guide to the haven of peace in spite of that seemingly battered marriage.
